Neighbourhood Review

Cyberjaya is the first ever MSC status township in Malaysia, located just next to the government office hub of Putrajaya. Launched in 2007, this township is a very well organized and well kept area with wide and well kept roads.

The majority of permanent residents who live in this town are Malays, while challenging the majority of the residents are the students who attend the many universities located within Cyberjaya.

African students are very much a norm in this area, and as such most of the new developments focused here are targeted towards investors who wish to go into the student rental business while some developers also look to cater to expats who work in the MNC companies in the area.

Consumer Price Index

This is a representation of Selangor Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the year of 2011 - 2015

Did you know?

A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of a market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. (Wikipedia)

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) line shows an increment in prices of essential goods on a yearly basis, while the Percentage Changes line shows the level of changes in price increments over the years. For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.

The above graph shows 1.644% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 2.093% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.448% in the year 2014 while surging by 2.523% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 105.1 in 2012, 107.3 in 2013, 111.0 in 2014, 113.8 in 2015.

Cyberjaya, so far so good. It will become a high density town/city soon in future

Many years ago, they said Cyberjaya will be Malaysia's Silicon Valley. But if you take a look at it, I really don't think so. I will not choose to live or invest in a property there even if it's much more affordable. That place is so dead! Perhaps suitable for... See More
people working or studying there. I went there quite a number of times to visit a friend and the eateries are so limited, we literally don't know what to eat. Although there's an IOI City Mall nearby, but to live there, it's a bit inconvenient.

Cyberjaya is a fairly laid back location to stay at. No jam yet to date, but loads of traffic light with uncoordinated traffic light might be quite a pain at times.
In terms of accessibility, there is MEX to Bukit Jalil or KL downtown, LDP to Puchong and Elite -... See More
NKVE to the north.
More and more shops are mushrooming in Cyberjaya, however do not expect things are cheap here (eg. a normal meal normally cost around RM 10.00 on average, and you won't find traditional hawker center here). 10 minutes drive to Dengkil if you feel like eating cheaper food.
