Puchong is an extremely large township with the majority population being Chinese. It is by far and large a self-sufficient township that is surrounded on all sides by thriving localities such as Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park and Sunway. The township itself is well organized with business areas, factory areas as well as residential areas.

It was originally a tin mine and rubber estate in the 60s, and was mostly developed by the IOI Property Group. There is a good mix of homes in this area, with the vast majority being of middle cost homes along with a large number of high end landed properties.

Construction in the area is ongoing at almost all times with an abundance of land in the outer areas. Puchong is a popular place for home buyers who are looking for middle cost homes, with the backlash being the high density and bad traffic during peak hours. The area was originally served by two-lane roads running to and fro the area.

These very same lanes have now been widened to contend with the increasing traffic, along with several new connecting highways. It is hoped that the upcoming extended MRT lines that will run through Puchong Perdana and Taman Puchong Permai might assist in alleviating some of the traffic woes.

Consumer Price Index

This is a representation of Selangor Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the year of 2011 - 2015

Did you know?

A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of a market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. (Wikipedia)

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) line shows an increment in prices of essential goods on a yearly basis, while the Percentage Changes line shows the level of changes in price increments over the years. For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.

The above graph shows 1.644% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 2.093% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.448% in the year 2014 while surging by 2.523% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 105.1 in 2012, 107.3 in 2013, 111.0 in 2014, 113.8 in 2015.

I live in Kampung Muhibbah flat. It's not a good place to live in. The residents from upstairs like to throw rubbish from their balcony. A lot of gangster around. High crime rate. No security. Lift always break down. Now with LRT, the traffic is not as bad anymore.

Seriously, the traffic is horrendous!!! Especially during after office hours. But the good thing is that there's huge range of good eateries around. IOI Mall is the closest mall for Puchong residents but it's not very organised, don't quite like it. They will be... See More
extending the mall to phase 2, so it would be much bigger. I don't think I would ever live here.
